Illustrations are colorful with characters that portray a variety of societal  roles. With spring upon us and indoor and outdoor markets displaying a variety of scrumptious fresh foods I decided to review this book. Just viewing the pictures and reading the text makes My Book Eyes feel well nourished.  Edna Lewis, a famous chef, grew up in the south.  This book concentrates on Edna’s younger years as she works with her family on their farm gathering nature’s bounty throughout the seasons and preserving foods to eat during winter. There is an author’s note and recipes included. Boldly colored illustrations add to this book’s appeal.
